For more than 200 years, shape-note singing has inhabited America’s cultural landscape, from New England to Appalachia. A cappella four-part harmony in a straightforward and unpolished form, shape-note singing employs both sacred and secular texts. Shape-note singers Brian Dennison and Gene Pinion chronicle the history of the art, and an ensemble of Savannah’s shape-note singers provide the music.
